OmegaLab specialists have been engaged in software development for more than 15 years, so they know first hand what fears customers have about outsourcing.

Some fintech and e-comm companies believe that the process of onboarding external specialists to a project can be time-consuming, or that outsourcing always involves a lack of transparency and control around the process. Some customers are confident that developing the system internally will help them to stick to budget, but this is not always true.

OmegaLab recently hosted a webinar entitled "Inside Outsource: Behind the Scenes Access" to get a deeper understanding of custom development issues. As part of the event, Natasha Medvedeva, Account Executive Europe of OmegaLab shared the results of the research, told how to properly build effective relationships with an external developer, and answered a number of pressing questions:

  • What are the fears of CTOs in Europe and USA before outsourcing development?

  • How can you correctly calculate the cost of a project by in-house developers and dedicated teams?

  • How can you calculate hidden development overheads?

  • What is the difference between in-house and outsourced development?

  • How can you build effective partnerships with a dedicated team?

Summing up, Natasha Medvedeva advised that in order for an outsourcing developer to become a competitive advantage for the customer's business, the main thing in this case is to build a systematic and systematic work. At first glance, it may seem that outsourcing is more expensive than in-house, but if you calculate the costs in detail, the development of an IT product by in-house specialists turns out to be much more expensive.

Fears associated with oversight, poor quality of work, and involvement can also be in vain. To do this, you need to carefully approach the choice of a developer at the initial stage. It should not just be up to a contractor to solve a block of work, but a reliable partner who will hear the customer, and understand their needs and expectations. Such an outsourcing team will use whatever tools are convenient for you and integrate into your process. In addition, by choosing to outsource, you are likely to get more qualified developers, because in-house expertise develops more slowly due to the uniformity of tasks.
